Ataxia

Ataxia is the inability to coordinate voluntary movement in the arms, legs or body. 

Cause

Some forms of ataxia are inherited but can also occur after a stroke or associated with other disorders such as multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, peripheral neuropathy, metabolic disorders, and vitamin deficiency (Vitamin B12). 

Treatment

There is no cure for the ataxia.  Medical treatment focuses on quality of life and rehabilitation is helpful to optimize independence.
